1Who We Are
Mood Bank is an adult membership institution centered on mental wealth. Mood Bank is operated by Ced & Dunn, LLC. Contact: ced@moodbank.org.
Mood Bank is not a mental health provider, crisis service, bank, lender, investment adviser, or financial institution.
2What This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy explains what information Mood Bank collects, why we collect it, how it may be used, when it may be shared with service providers, and the choices members have over their information.
The governing principle is simple: data existing inside Mood Bank does not give Mood Bank permission to use it for a different purpose. Member intent creates continuity. Passive observation does not.
3Who Mood Bank Is For
Mood Bank membership is currently limited to adults age 18 or older in the United States. Applicants must provide information required for eligibility, identity verification, and institutional review before membership is activated.
4Information We Collect
Account and application information may include your name, email address, verified mobile number, date of birth, general location information you provide, application responses, membership-review status, and account-security information.
Information you deliberately create or save inside Mood Bank may include Investments, member-created Anchors, Journal entries, Journal audio, Journal Places, Saved items, Vault content, mental-wealth evidence, declared context, notification preferences, and other member-directed Product records. Mood Bank also creates one private system Anchor from the name you choose to be called: your 12-year-old self. It is not created from Journal content, browsing, inference, contacts, or a claim that any particular childhood event occurred.
Some information is transient by default. What you type or choose during a current Mood Bank instrument or Tool session does not automatically become a permanent record unless the Product clearly gives you a way to save or carry it forward.
Operational information may include device, browser, network, authentication, security, reliability, abuse-prevention, notification-delivery, and audit information necessary to operate and protect Mood Bank.
5How We Use Information
We use information to operate your account, review membership applications, verify identity, deliver the Product, remember information you deliberately choose to carry forward, provide member-requested reminders or integrations, protect security and safety, communicate account status, respond to support requests, comply with legal obligations, and improve the reliability of Mood Bank.
Mood Bank does not silently turn every interaction into a profile. Browsing, reading, opening Explore, viewing Branch, using a transient Tool, or other passive activity does not by itself create durable member-facing continuity.
6Your Private Life Is Your Private Life
Your private life is your private life. It is not advertising inventory.
Mood Bank does not sell private member content. Commercial or institutional partners do not receive access to Journal entries, Today inputs, Investments, Safety activity, private context, or other intimate Mood Bank content.
Where Mood Bank offers partner experiences, broad non-content attributes such as an age range may be used to determine relevance when that use is permitted, purpose-specific, and consistent with member controls. Private Mood Bank content is not made available to partners for targeting.
7Journal
Journal is private autobiographical space. Journal content is not automatically used to generate Today recommendations, Branch results, advertising, partner targeting, research, Vault content, or hidden inference. Journal Places remain Journal context and do not silently become Branch location or general personalization data.
Journal audio is treated as unusually sensitive source material. Where audio recording is available, the intended Product policy is to retain the recording for no longer than 30 days unless you delete it sooner. A written Journal entry you choose to save can remain until you delete it or permanently delete your account.
8Vault
Vault participation is anonymous to other members but accountable to Mood Bank. Mood Bank may retain information necessary to review, moderate, investigate, or enforce Vault safety and governance rules. Peer anonymity does not mean institutional anonymity.
9Branch, Places, and External Support
Branch is designed to help members find qualified real-world support. If you choose to use location for Branch, that location is purpose-limited to the Branch experience and does not automatically become Today, Journal, or general personalization context.
Journal Places and Branch location are separate Product concepts. Mood Bank does not silently substitute one for the other.
External providers, resources, and organizations have their own privacy practices. When you leave Mood Bank or choose to connect with an outside provider, that provider may collect information under its own policies.
10Communications and Notifications
Phone verification is an identity and security requirement. It is not consent to receive optional SMS communications.
Required account and security notices are separate from optional member, editorial, event, or reminder communications. Optional email, SMS, and push categories require the permissions applicable to that channel. Push permission is requested only after an explicit member action.
External notification content is designed to be discreet. Journal text, Journal audio, sensitive private context, and private Vault excerpts are not used as lock-screen notification content.
11Service Providers
Mood Bank uses service providers to operate the Product. Current production paths include Supabase for authentication, database and storage; Twilio for phone verification and SMS delivery; Resend for email delivery; Vercel for hosting and runtime infrastructure; Google Maps / Places where place functionality is used; Google Calendar when a member explicitly connects calendar functionality; browser or platform push services for notifications; and Mux for institutional media delivery.
These providers receive only the information needed for the relevant service and are not granted permission by Mood Bank to use private member content for Mood Bank advertising or partner targeting. Provider-specific retention and processing practices may also be governed by their own terms and privacy obligations.
12Calendar and Other Connected Services
Connected services are member-directed. For example, if you choose to add an Anchor date to Google Calendar, Mood Bank may send the date information needed to create or update that calendar event and store the identifiers needed to maintain the connection. Disconnecting a service stops future use of that connection, subject to the external provider's own retention practices.
13Data Retention and Permanent Account Deletion
Mood Bank keeps member information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, the member relationship, security and integrity, or another legitimate institutional or legal requirement.
Mood Bank provides permanent account deletion. A successful deletion ends member access and removes the member account and covered member-owned data through Mood Bank's deletion process. Some limited security, legal, moderation, fraud-prevention, or audit records may be retained where necessary and permitted. Those records are not used as a shadow member profile.
Because backups and external processors can have their own deletion lifecycles, Mood Bank does not promise that every infrastructure copy disappears instantaneously.
14Your Choices and Controls
Depending on the feature, members can update account information, control optional communications, choose whether to create durable Investments or member-created Anchors, delete member-created objects, manage connected services, stop or clear certain personalization context, control Branch location use, and permanently delete the account. The permanent 12-year-old system Anchor is part of the account and is not separately deletable; deleting the account removes it with the member-owned account data covered by Mood Bank’s deletion process.
A choice to save something for one purpose does not automatically authorize Mood Bank to reuse it for another purpose.
15Security
Mood Bank uses technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the Product, including access controls, authentication protections, encrypted connections, and purpose-limited handling of sensitive information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact ced@moodbank.org.
16Changes to This Policy
Mood Bank may update this Privacy Policy as the Product, legal requirements, or service-provider relationships change. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate member-facing channel before or when they take effect, as required.
